Chinen Yuri

Yuri (Yuuri), also known as "the little giant", is a Japanese actor, dancer and singer/composer under Johnny & Associates' management. He was born November 30, 1993 in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture and now lives in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area.

Yuri Chinen was born in an art-oriented family. His skill in dancing was mainly influenced by his mother, Miki Chinen, who taught him jazz dance since he was three. Yuri's father, Takashi Chinen, is a bronze medalist in Olympics gymnastics, obviously why Yuri was inclined in acrobatics too. Yuri is the youngest in the family. He has a 2 year older sister, Saya Chinen, who shares the same room with him.

Calmest, serenest, quietest - that is how HSJ would describe their fellow member Chinen Yuri. Yuri is a person who doesn't talk really often. He's someone who wouldn't want anyone see him cry, so he would usually hold his tears back when things get solemnly. But he can get a bit corky at times too. He just knows when to get serious.

Yuuri's music and dancing skills

Like his seniors (KAT-TUN and Arashi), Yuri wants to learn how to play instruments to accompany his singing. In an interview he said, "I could've looked cool playing bass guitar, but I am a bit small to carry and play it. So if I were to choose which instrument to play, I'll probably pick keyboard."

Vocally, Yuri has a high-pitch voice, which apparently making him an astounding one: "Do I like my voice? Of course I do. If I don't, then of course other people won't like it too." Currently, Yuri is in the middle of a voice-changing phase (puberty change stuffs) so he feels different when he's singing. The training must've been tougher for him now because of this.

Yuri's strength is in dancing, but still keeps on practicing it, "I can dance with real fast-beat songs when I'm in the mood to do so." His acrobat skills probably helped him a lot to improve his moves and perform his knee-weakening grooves in the dance floor.

Yuuri's academics

Academically, Yuri would always turn his teachers and parents very proud. This boy is really smart and is being praised by other members of HSJ for it. He knows when to get serious at things and he never takes studying flippantly. Getting an "A" in ALL of his subjects' only shows that despite of his busy schedule, he can still balance his time between work and study very well.

Yuri shared his secret for his excellence in school and he said, "When in class, I always listen and focus myself to what the teacher explains%u2026[school's] gonna be fun if only we'll participate actively." Yuri admits that he doesn't have too much time to study on exams. So usually, before the exams start, he would just listen to his friends memorizing the lessons loudly. Yuri has also a habit that he does before an examination day. Somehow, he finds sleeping earlier than usual helps him set his mind properly so he could answer exam questions very well.
